Checkout Improvements Inc Inline Validation

The Zeald Checkout Page is now a few years old, and there have been a lot of advancements in ease of use & checkout best practices. This collection of features is aimed at increasing the usability & conversion rate of checkouts, and is based on well established best practices

I have put them together under 1 post because a lot of them complement each other, but I understand that some of these features may be more feasible than others.

1. Change Payment Methods from Drop Down to Visual Tick Box

(example http://cdn.yoast.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/09/Logos.png)

2. Inline Form Validation
Currently errors are disruptive. You have to complete the process before it reloads the page and tells you at the top the error message (sometimes crypic). Should rather alert visitors of any errors while they are filling out the form.

If we can't have the errors appear without page load, make the error appear in close proximity to the box it's associated to.

3. Automatically pre-fill address fields based off suburb auto detect.
Refer to www.ironedge.com.au this is the best way I've seen of doing this because the user doesn't have to remember their post code.

An alternative to this would be have the post code input pre-fill other info but that's less friendly.

4. Offer Persistent Shopping Cart
After adding something to cart it should be cached for at least the next 24 hours instead of until browser close.

5. Combine First Name & Last Name Fields

6. Allow Facebook Connect as a login option

7. Change the way account registration is handled
A lot of customers get confused by the wording on the account creation section.

The standard ecommerce approach is to have a step in the process before address & payment details where the user can choose to either Checkout as Gust, Login or Creat an account.

This allows you to capture more abandoned carts and is less scary for visitors

8. Enhanced Product Search on Ecommerce Websites that has a suggestive search feature and product preview as you type e.g. http://www.ironedge.com.au
